try FydeOS

kll Posted 20 days agoSoftware
after win10 on old desktop now use
Ubuntu 25.04 x86_64
BLOG Ubuntu

and also on old laptop upgrade to
BLOG KDE Plasma Neon

i now want play on that laptop ( what i not use much ) with
FydeOS
after check some YouTube videos, like from EC

first check on that laptop hardware:
using terminal $ fastfetch
CPU:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3210M (4) @ 3.10 GHz
GPU 1:
AMD Radeon HD 7500M/7600M Series [Discrete]
GPU 2:
Intel 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller @ 1.10 GHz [Integrated]
Memory:
1.27 GiB / 3.72 GiB (34%)

so that is practically garbage / possibly in the range of my RPI4 /
OR
possibly a good example how a slim Linux could revive old hardware.

my understanding about FydeOS up to now is:

** confusing history like:
* 'chrome OS' clone
* bought by Google but now claims to be Google free
* originally for RPI's

** can run
* Linux terminal ..
* Linux desktop apps
* Android apps
( via FydeOS account or Google Playstore account but also local user/password setup possible )

so a combination of Linux desktop and Android desktop
what is interesting as i was looking for phone and tablet to run Linux too.
so yes, a kind of new computer world i not knew it exists.
( so why not possible to install on all Linux desktops? make much more sense than try run Windows apps on Linux 'utilize Wine' )

first use my desktop PC to download a FydeOS image
Intel Legacy
FydeOS_for_PC_v19.0-io-stable.img.xz
and also
AMD Graphics
( because there is a AMD graphic card build in )
FydeOS_for_PC_apu_v20.0-io-stable.bin.zip

burn USB stick ? i have Raspberry Pi Imager installed here ( it can auto unzip...),

and try both for boot that laptop from USB.

bad luck,
does not boot with laptop ( not get boot menu )
and also not boot with desktop PC
